Library Porch Pickup & Home Delivery Service

The Reading Public Library building remains closed to the public, but we are now lending from our collection via library porch pickup or, if you prefer, home delivery to your porch or doorstep. Browse the online catalog on our website. You cannot place online holds at this time but may request items from our library (items from other libraries are not available) by emailing or calling us with your selections. If you need help, the librarian can assist you. If you don’t have a library card, he can set you up with an account by email or phone.

The librarian is available for parts of the day Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and will arrange a pickup or delivery time with you. There is a limit of 3 items per adult and 4 per child. If you are picking up your items, they will be put on the covered library porch in a bag with your last name on it. If he is in, the librarian will be happy to put the bag in your trunk or hatchback. Each checkout will be handled by only one staff person, using hygiene recommendations from the VT Dept. of Health and the CDC. At the end of the 2-week lending period, you may put returns inside the green drop-box near the library door. If you want to renew items, check with the librarian. Returned items are being quarantined for 7 days before being reshelved. Please follow established social-distancing and safety measures during pickup and return.

Our Seed Library is open for the season. We have fewer seeds due to COVID-19 shortages, but want to get what seeds we do have out to our patrons for planting. We are offering seeds via library porch pickup or, if you prefer, home delivery (to your porch or doorstep). Please email or call us with your request. For now, we are offering 3 packets of seeds per family. When making your request, list 6 types of seeds you’re interested in by preference since supply is limited this year. If you need help with your selections, the librarian can assist you.

After you make your selections, the librarian will arrange a time with you to get your seeds. If you are picking them up, they will be put on the covered library porch in a bag with your last name on it. If he is in, the librarian will be happy to put the bag in your trunk or hatchback. Each order will be handled by only one staff person, using hygiene recommendations from the VT Dept. of Health & the CDC. Please follow established social-distancing and safety measures during pickup.

For folks who do not have a printer at home, the library can also do a few pages of printing (8.5 X 11 B&W) or copying (8.5 X 11 B&W). First 3 pages are free. No scans or faxes, please.
